| Jack Gorgels, the president of the Weller Housing Association, talks about Heerlerheide New Style and the Minewater Project. Heerlerheide is an important quarter of the municipality of Heerlen. A decade ago Weller, the main housing company in Heerlen, started a huge operation to renew and to redevelop the centre of Heerlerheide. Weller created the circumstances through what the supply of civil services will strengthen the binding of people and the booming of commercial services. |
| Energy from mine water costs the same as gas |
| Just when world leaders are going to the climate summit in Bali to talk about measures to reduce the increase in greenhouse gasses, Heerlen is showing that it’s possible to do this at a local level. Heerlen is going to recoup its investment in the Minewater Project. The heating and cooling of buildings with mine water does not cost customers more than traditional energy. Furthermore, for the same price, energy can be supplied which causes 55% less greenhouse gas, and buildings connected to the minewater system have a more pleasant indoor climate. Now it looks as if the Heerlen investment in the Minewater Project can be earned back. The council is accordingly asking the municipality to move towards setting up CorioEnergy NV, a minewater production company. |

| PIPELINE At this moment we work on a conduct network between the five wells and the most important potential clients. The network consists of approximately 8 kilometres of pipeline (with three tubes: 1 isolated (for warm water) and 2 without isolation (for cold and returning water). |
| Drilling Minewaterproject successful once again |
| After drilling non-stop for more than 5 weeks, a mine gallery at a depth of 250 metres was reached last night. The drilling took place in the garden of the head office of ABP pension fund. Further testing will determine whether the water in the mine gallery is suitable for cooling buildings. This depends mainly on the temperature and volume of water in the gallery. |
| Opnieuw succesvolle boring Mijnwaterproject |
| Na ruim vijf weken onophoudelijk boren, is vanavond om half 9 de mijngang onder de ABP-tuin bereikt. Deze gang ligt op 250 meter diepte. De boring maakt deel uit van het Mijnwaterproject. Onderzoek moet uitwijzen of het water in de mijngang qua temperatuur en hoeveelheid geschikt is voor koeling van gebouwen |
